How We Started
A chance conversation with a couple of farm wives about a conference our husbands had recently attended got us thinking, why isn't there a Conference aimed for Women? A bit of research and it turns out they are quite popular in the West, but it's been a long time since one has happened in the East. So a small group of ladies have jumped in with both feet to make this a reality!
What's the Conference all about?
In the past, Farm women sought out these conferences as a unique way to work collaboratively and help move agriculture forward. We plan to pair some serious discussions with some light and fun activities! We'll send you home stuffed with new knowledge and rejuvenated to continue in this industry! You'll meet women from across Atlantic Canada who love this industry as much as you AND you're guaranteed to have fun doing it!
Who is a Farm Woman?!?
The definition of “Farm Woman” has expanded from what it used to be, with many women now working off farm and having reduced exposure to their farms. The focus of the 2014 Conference for Farm Women is to reconnect ties that existed in the past and provide women involved or interested in our industry with concrete ideas that they can take home to their farms or jobs and incorporate into their communities. It’s important that we maintain strong connections to our farms and continue to educate ourselves. We need to become stronger advocates for agriculture in our communities. Having the non-farming public understand and support our industry is vital to our viability going forward.
